Our teachers have years of teaching experience with young children and have educational backgrounds in elementary education and early childhood.
Each classroom is staffed with two professional and experienced teachers. Our staff is dedicated to provide children a nurturing and supportive learning environment. We focus on a hands-on approach using manipulative materials and real-life situations in science and math curriculum. Discovery and exploration are encouraged in all of the learning activities. Twice a year parent and teacher conferences are conducted to inform parents about the child's development and progress.

Sarah Brooks has an Associates degree in Child Development from Washtenaw Community College, as well as training in HighScope. Sarah has been with Pooh Corner for 9 years. Sarah believes a strong and trusting relationship with their teachers during a child's first school experience helps promote a positive outlook towards learning as they begin their educational journey. Also, by providing hands on experience, children learn how things are and the world around them.
Terrie Eroh has a Bachelor's degree in Science and in Early Childhood Education and a Master of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from Eastern Michigan University and has extensive HighScope training. Terrie has taught for 20 years at Pooh Corner. Terrie feels that children learn best using hands on experiences to develop their physical, social and cognitive skills in a positive, caring environment. She loves teaching and she enjoys seeing how much the children grow throughout the year.
Lisa Rader has a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education with a focus in Language Arts from Eastern Michigan University. She received her Masters degree in Special Education-Learning Disabilites from the University of Michigan. Lisa has taught at the elementary level for the past 7 years. She believes in creating a positive learning environment that stimulates a child's ability to grow emotionally, intellectually, and interpersonally.
India Sobieski earned her post baccalaureate teaching certifcate in Elementary Education with a focus on Science from Eastern Michigan University. She has recently completed her coursework for her Master's Degree in Reading from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. India has taught seven years in Southwest Detroit in grades K-3. India believes it is her task to help them in their growth by providing an engaging learning environment that is safe, supportive, and nurturing.
Pranvera Usein has a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education with a minor in Mathematics and Reading from Eastern Michigan University. Pranvera has taught Preschool for the past 3 years and has HighScope training. She believes in creating a safe, collaborative, and ongoing learning environment. Pranvera feels that children learn by doing and exploring while providing them the appropriate tools to reach and become the best they can be.
Heidi Woltemath has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Michigan. She later returned to school at Eastern Michigan University to pursue her real passion of educating young children. She believes that it is her job to guide the children through many different experiences and activities. She feels it is her responsibility as a teacher to use her knowledge and passion to reach each child and give him/her the skills and experiences necessary to be the greatest individual he/she can be.
Sufen Lin is the Director of the Pooh Corner Program. Sufen has a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education from Eastern Michigan University. She taught children from 0-5 years old and has more than 20 years of experience working with children and parents, including 10 years as an Early Childhood Program Director for the University of Michigan.
