Careers In Education


The Careers in Education course, or Cadet Teaching experience, is for students interested in exploring the fundamentals of education and human services industry as a career profession.  It provides students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the classroom before entering a college or university program. Students will focus on communication, leadership, basic principles of education, child development, safety in the workplace, the planning and development of educational activities, as well as employability skills.

  • Placement for cadet teaching field experiences are made with the Saline Area Schools teacher coordinator  

  • Students will receive a grade based upon the supervising teacher evaluations, on-site observation and evaluations, related assignments, and a classroom portfolio

  • Students have the opportunity to be a part of Business Professionals of America (BPA) or Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) to compete at the regional, state and national level

  • Articulation agreements exist so that students can earn college credits at Mott Community College and Central Michigan University 

  • Prerequisite: Grades 11-12, Application Acceptance
