This program offers training in computer aided drafting (CAD) in regards to engineering and architecture. Students will gain an understanding of CAD - basic measurement to 3D solid modeling and photo-realistic rendering - before they will have the opportunity to explore different design fields including Engineering or Architecture, as they see fit.
Curriculum will be tailored to individual student's skill level and interests using the most current AutoDesk software (AutoCAD, Inventor, and Revit).
Students will also have the opportunity to compete at the SkillsUSA and MITES competitions
Articulation agreements exist so that students can earn college credits at certain universities
Students completing the course may find employment in entry level positions as draftsmen, architects, or an engineering design position
This course will prepare students for engineering/architectural curriculum at the post-secondary level
For the last 90 years, the Michigan Industrial Technology Education Society has been hosting a project based competition. This was their fifth year competing, and Mr. Vasiloff's SWWC CAD class had the strongest showing yet. They entered projects into around 20 different categories: including photo-realistic renderings of CAD drawings, blueprints, hand drawings, and model houses. The class had all 84 projects that were entered make it through regionals and qualify for states, and an amazing 40 of them placed top 3 in the state to earn a plaque. They had 9 individual state champions, 16 runners-up, and 15 third place finishes. Congrats to all those who competed!
