Computer Servicing I: Hardware and Operating Systems (year AM)

Prerequisites: Grades 11-12

The Computer Systems Technology I: Hardware and Operating Systems course is designed to provide students with the necessary skills and preparation to pass the TestOut PC Pro certification exam and CompTIA A+ certification exam. Computer technicians are in high demand and are responsible for building, repairing, and troubleshooting computers, as well as networks, and electronic devices. Computer Systems Technology I is the first course in our Computer Systems Technology program. Through state-of-the-art simulators and hands-on activities this course measures not just what you know, but what you can do. It measures your ability to install, manage, repair, and troubleshoot PC hardware, Windows, Linux, and Mac operating systems. Course concepts include: Hardware, operating systems, memory and storage, peripherals, file systems, networking, wireless, printers, laptops, and mobile devices. Articulation is available with Washtenaw Community College.

Computer Servicing II: Security and Networking: (year AM) 

Suggested Prerequisite: Computer Servicing I: Hardware and Operating Systems, but not required. If questions, see instructor.

The Computer Security and networking course is designed for students who are going to enter the information technology field. Students in this course expand their troubleshooting skills. Through state-of-the-art simulators and hands-on activities, this course prepares students for the TestOut Network Pro certification exam and CompTIA's Network+ certification exam. Additionally, this course will provide a strong background for computer security. Students gain the knowledge and skills they need to install, configure, and maintain a network for businesses and organizations. Course concepts include: Network protocols, cables and devices, IP and server configuration, routing, security and firewalls, and network storage. College credit is available with Washtenaw Community College.

Computer Servicing III: Advanced Security and Networking: (year AM)

Prerequisite: This course should be taken after Computer Servicing II Security and Networking OR concurrently with Computer Servicing II: Security and Networking.

The Computer Servicing III: Advanced Security and Networking course is designed for students who are going to enter the information technology field. Students in this course expand their troubleshooting skills. Through state-of-the-art simulators and hands-on activities, this course prepares students for the TestOut Security Pro certification exam and CompTIA's Security+ certification exam. Students will develop and apply knowledge and skills to understand, implement and maintain the components of organizational security. Course concepts include: Network security; compliance and operational security; threats and vulnerabilities; application, data, host security; access control, and cryptography. College credit is available with Washtenaw Community College.
