Health Sciences has been designed for students who are interested in health careers at the professional and paraprofessional levels. Areas of study include Career Explorations in Healthcare, Patient Rights and Medical Ethics, Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, Disease Process, direct patient care, and trends in healthcare. Students will earn multiple industry-recognized certifications, such as BLS for Healthcare Providers, Stop the Bleed, and Teen Mental Health First Aid, while developing essential soft skills such as empathy, teamwork, and professional communication. A key component of this program is the six-week clinical experience, where students will apply their learning in long-term care facilities and other healthcare settings, working directly with patients and healthcare professionals. This program is especially beneficial for students considering careers such as Certified Nursing Assistant, Registered Nurse, NP, PA, Physician, EMT/Paramedic, Radiology/Imaging Specialist, and many others. It provides valuable insight into healthcare career pathways before entering college or training programs. Students who successfully complete all course and clinical requirements are eligible to take the State of Michigan Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Exam. The CNA credential is required for admission to the WCC Nursing Program and is recognized by many nursing and allied health programs across the state. CNA work experience is also accepted by many Physician Assistant (PA) programs as required patient-care hours. Articulation agreements are available with Washtenaw Community College and Ferris State University, offering students a strong head start on their postsecondary education. Class fees: Scrubs $30+, Certifications range from $20-$50, CNA State Tests $175.00 + $40 certification fee,  HOSA Membership $35 and optional competition fees vary.
