VIDEO NEWS PRODUCTION


VIDEO NEWS PRODUCTION 1 (SHS Today-AM)
 Requirements: Grades 11-12 only, Application Required, Full Year Program

The Video News Production class is an in-depth look at broadcast video and school news through digital media production. Students will learn the techniques needed to write, produce and output news stories and video media that impact their school and community. The broadcast aspect of news media is met by training students in the school broadcast studio and with online learning experiences in video production projects. Students will also be able to produce special interest shows working hand-in-hand with local community members. Articulation is available with Washtenaw Community College, Ferris State University and the Motion Picture Institute.

SHS Today (AM) - Each student will be exposed to the latest broadcasting technology and techniques as they produce a news show called SHS Today.  This show is aired weekly throughout the school, local SCTN channel 18, and the web.  Students will also be able to produce special interest projects working hand-in-hand with local community members.

 Requirements: Grades 11-12 only, Application Required, Full Year Program

Students will learn the techniques needed to write, produce and output news stories and video media that impact their school and community. Hornet Nation (PM)- Each student will be exposed to the latest broadcasting technology and techniques as they produce a weekly sports show called Hornet Nation.  Students will work hand-in-hand with the athletic department to produce an ESPN-style news show for the school as well as many other special projects throughout the year. (You are not required to be on camera at any time in this class.  Many positions exist behind the scenes too!)

VIDEO NEWS PRODUCTION 2 (SHS Today-AM)

Requirements: Grade 12 only, Application Required, Full Year Program, Successful Completion of Video News Production 1

The Video News Production 2 class is an extension of VNP 1 which is an in-depth look at broadcast video and school news through digital media production.  Students will continue to learn and improve on the techniques needed to write, produce, and output news stories and video media that impact their school and community.  Leadership opportunities are available for qualified second-year students. “Adobe Certified Professional” certifications are available in Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop.
