students are tasked with creating a board game representing Michigan's road to statehood, highlighting key historical events and relationships between them. Students get to be creative, designing their own game board pieces and adding twists to the learning experience. Through the process, students also reflect on how the advances forward in statehood harmed indigenous people who lived on the land. The activity is a great lesson in how to compromise and work with a group and it's FUN.
