Why Choose Preschool?
For families new to the idea of preschool, the benefits are life-changing. Research shows that participation in a high-quality PreK program improves a child’s emotional, social and intellectual skills. Children who attend PreK learn essential social skills and build a foundation in reading, science, and math, getting them prepared to start kindergarten ready to learn.
The Saline Start: Empowering Our Youngest Hornets
Saline Area Schools provides a strong, supportive start to our youngest Hornets’ educational journey. Through play-based, developmentally appropriate learning, children build foundational skills in early literacy, problem-solving, social-emotional development, and independence. Each classroom is staffed with two professional and experienced teachers, ensuring a nurturing and responsive learning environment for every child. Saline Area Schools utilizes the research-based High Scope Curriculum Framework.
Saline Area Schools Early Childhood Vision Statement
At SAS, we believe that a strong early childhood foundation is the key to lifelong learning and success. Our Early Childhood Program, serving children from toddlers through age five, is committed to nurturing the whole child - academically, socially, emotionally, and physically - through play-based, developmentally appropriate experiences that nurture curiosity, movement, problem-solving, and self-regulation.
Our Commitment to Young Learners:
Supportive Learning Environments: We cultivate safe, welcoming, and engaging spaces where children develop confidence, independence, and a love for learning.
Highly Skilled and Caring Educators: Saline Early Childhood educators bring deep knowledge of child development and early learning practices, providing each child with nurturing support.
Developmentally Appropriate Curriculum: Learning through constructive play is at the heart of our program, helping children build essential skills such as problem-solving, communication, social interaction, self-regulation, and physical coordination.
Strong Family and Community Partnerships: We value families as essential partners and collaborate with community organizations to support children and caregivers across early childhood, recognizing that development happens within a broader system of care and relationships.
By honoring each child, we strive to lay the foundation for a positive transition into elementary school and a lifelong journey of discovery and success.
