Young 5s Eligibility

2026-2027 Young 5s will be open to those turning 5 between June 1st and December 1st.

The District intends to place all interested students in a Young 5s classroom, and is committed to at least one Young 5s section in each of the three elementary buildings. In order to determine building placements, we will conduct a lottery of all enrolled Young 5s students after April 15, assigning buildings by boundary schools. Preferential treatment for building assignments may be given to students with IEPs, students of siblings attending a SAS elementary school during the 2026-27 school year, and In-District residents, as long as they are enrolled by April 15. When the three classrooms are full, we will assess the need for additional classrooms and make determinations on building placement based on the assigned boundary school of the remaining families. Young 5s students are not guaranteed placement in their assigned boundary school, and families not placed in their assigned boundary school will either need to self-transport students or enroll their student in Kindergarten.
