Meet Our Admin

Kenyatta Hughes, Principal

Hi, my name is Kenyatta Hughes, principal of Pleasant Ridge Elementary. I continue to be honored and excited to be a member of the PR family. As your principal, I look forward each day to strengthening the relationships that I have begun building with all of our wonderful students, families, teachers, and talented staff.

As in previous years, we will continue our commitment to helping all children develop their intellectual capacity, academic skills, and social competence so that they will be prepared to effectively negotiate the demands associated with living in an ever-changing world. Beyond the rigors of their academic program, it is our aim to instill within each student the essential principles of pride, respect and responsibility so that they will become productive and contributing members of our increasingly global society.

High expectations, which have been established by our qualified and dedicated staff will be maintained while also providing a safe and nurturing student-centered community that fosters respect for individual differences.

I have been dedicated to the field of education for 15 years. I have worked with students ranging from Kindergarten through 8th grade in a variety of roles. I am thrilled to bring my skills as an educational leader to Pleasant Ridge Elementary and to work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child’s success.

To conclude, please remember that my door is always open to you. I sincerely welcome your conversation and input. Let us keep our students the primary focus of our work. I can’t wait to celebrate our collective success.

In partnership,

Kenyatta Hughes

Abbie Stull, Academic Dean

Dear Pleasant Ridge Families,

It is with great excitement and gratitude that I introduce myself as the Academic Dean at Pleasant Ridge Elementary. In my role, I work closely with Mrs. Hughes to cultivate a supportive, equitable, and high-impact learning environment for all of our PR Hornets.

I have spent the last decade working in public education. I earned a BA in Elementary Education & Mathematics, and an MA in Educational Leadership & Policy both from the University of Michigan - GO BLUE!

Before becoming an administrator, I spent many cherished years as a classroom teacher. Along the way, I have embraced opportunities to diversify my skill set through work in leadership, special education, curriculum, behavior support, and mentoring. Each experience strengthened my commitment to creating schools where every student feels safe, respected, supported, and accountable within a caring learning community.

Building strong relationships with students and families is at the heart of who I am as an educator. You can always expect me to communicate with dignity, warmth, and respect while working alongside you as a partner in your child’s education. My door is always open - I am here to help.

I look forward to meeting you soon!

Best,

Abbie Stull
