Skills/USA Automotive Technology 2014-15 Regional Competition

Skills USA Regional Competition 2014-15 Group

On Friday February 6th nine Career and Technical Education students from the South and West Washtenaw Consortium competed in the Skills USA regional Automotive Technology competition.   The South and West Washtenaw Consortium was one of twelve schools in attendance. The competition was held at Washtenaw Community College and is designed to create real life diagnostic and repair situations.

Skills USA Regional Competition 2014-15 GroupOn Friday February 6th nine Career and Technical Education students from the South and West Washtenaw Consortium competed in the Skills USA regional Automotive Technology competition.   The South and West Washtenaw Consortium was one of twelve schools in attendance. The competition was held at Washtenaw Community College and is designed to create real life diagnostic and repair situations.

The SWWC Automotive Technology program dominated the overall Master Technician competition with Milan H.S. junior Christian Libby placed second, Saline H.S. senior Kyle Jennings placed third and Manchester H.S. senior Evan Molotky placing fourth.  SWWC students Austin Stark senior from Lincoln H.S. and Saline Senior, Angelos Bairactaris placed second and third respectfully in the Automotive Brakes competition.  Saline junior, Dane Hoffman placed fourth in the Automotive Electrical competition and Saline senior Alex Labovich placed fourth in the New Car Prep competition. All four of the competitions reflect the requirements of the ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) technician certification tasks and exams. All the above mentioned students earned industrial prizes from Snap-On tools and Car Quest Auto Parts.
